NASHVILLE, TENN. – When Lauren Watkins released her full-length debut album The Heartbroken Record in June, she knew that having it pressed on vinyl would be a critical part of telling its full story.

“This is a record that calls out being a ‘record;’ we knew we had to make the official vinyl a moment,” Watkins says.

“My granddad used to love playing records,” the rising country star remembers. “I have a memory of him playing albums on his record player around Christmas time and those underscoring the soundtrack to so many good times. Then, my dad bought me my own record player when I was a teenager, and I just fell in love – listening to an artist’s project how they intended for you to, hearing the little imperfections and scratches that give each record its own character. Vinyl feels like the purest form of listening to me; I just love how real it makes an album feel.”

Bringing the 17-track set to fans the way she’s always wanted to, Watkins will release the official vinyl for The Heartbroken Record on Aug. 23. Pre-order here.

Celebrating the moment, she doubles down two-fold with both a performance and signing at Nashville’s The Groove record store on vinyl release day and a crop of new live audio videos shot at The Groove to pair. “I believe in albums,” Watkins continues. “I believe in listening to them how the artist laid them out, and this gives listeners that experience. The first time I heard my own album on vinyl was so surreal and full circle. I can’t wait for you to hear it how I always hoped you would.”

The Heartbroken Record has already begun etching its verses onto the hearts of fans and critics globally, propelling Watkins to over 36 million on-demand streams upon release. This fall, she brings the album on the road supporting tours with Morgan Wallen, Maddie & Tae, and Corey Kent.

Fusing a fresh, modern-country shine with the rough-hewn edge of an outlaw, Watkins stands as a neon-lit throwback in the digital age, a born singer-songwriter with a vision for the moment. On her full-length debut, she introduces herself the Nashville way – co-writing the entire project, and stringing together the pieces of a bootstraps story with songs that make an impact and a singular-yet-familiar sound. Throughout the 17-song album, Watkins easily reminds fans that though they may crack easily, hearts heal back stronger, messier, more resilient with every break.

“It makes sense that my debut album would be called The Heartbroken Record; heartbreak songs have always been my favorite,” Watkins smiles. “As a songwriter I feel a responsibility to put my experiences on paper. Whether it’s the loss of love, or a town, or a friendship, we all experience heartbreak. I think it’s really special that we can be brought together by things like that.”

From the breezy first notes of album opener “Leavers Leave,” to  woozy, honky-tonking title track “Heartbroken Record” to “Set My Heart On Fire,” where Watkins enlists personal icon Sheryl Crow for a roots-rocking tribute to the self-destructive nature of falling in love, to refreshing focus track “Gatlinburg,” an upbeat tribute to emotional escapism and ode to East Tennessee’s Las Vegas and its Margaritaville-like powers, Watkins centers herself as “a country superstar in the making” (Holler).

“I wanted this album to show every side of heartbreak,” she continues. “It’s a story of the good, the bad, and the ugly. One second, it’s a feel-good car jammer and the next it’s a cryin’ pedal steel waltz…and if that doesn’t describe me and heartbreak in a sentence, then I don’t know what does.”

As for what’s up next for Watkins? She’s past heartbreak and on to greener pastures, newly and happily married to songwriter / producer Will Bundy. But before the two can ride off into the sunset, the gut wrenching lessons she’s learned along the way needed to be put to bed.

“I did just marry the love of my life,” Watkins says, “but I can’t go into this new chapter without getting the past few chapters off my chest.”

This summer, the newly wed heartbreaker tours fairs and festivals nationwide before taking the stage internationally opening Morgan Wallen’s One Night At A Time World Tour throughout Europe, as well as gigs opening stateside tours for Maddie & Tae and Corey Kent this fall.

With her Big Loud Records / Songs & Daughters-released entrance, Watkins introduces herself the Nashville way – co-writing the entire project with a stable of the town’s finest pens, stringing together the pieces of a bootstraps story with songs that make an impact and a singular-yet-familiar sound.

Doused in the influence of outlaw giants like Willie Nelson and Waylon Jennings, modern mainstays Kacey Musgraves, Miranda Lambert, and album collaborator Sheryl Crow, and Y2K radio kings and queens like Brad Paisley, Sara Evans, and The Chicks, Watkins and diamond-certified producer Joey Moi capture a unique sonic blend that matches her unorthodox take on country, fusing old-school organic twang with a full-bodied 2000s thump and her delicate-but-dangerous undercurrent – all steeped in a rough-around-the-edges brand of femininity. Whether aching or anthemic, each track highlights the messy magic of love and loss; and with sharp, unexpected twists in perspective, she captures the million jagged facets of a broken heart.

“I didn’t want to just put an album out – I wanted it to be purposeful,” Watkins reflects. “It’s the past several years of my life, and that was just so much heartbreak and dramatic girl-feelings, but I think in a really deep and relatable way… and it just needs to get off my chest.”

“It’s exactly the space in country I thought was missing and wanted to fill,” she continues. “It’s sweet and warm, but also gritty and tough at the same time, and that’s my favorite thing. I love it.”

“There were a lot of years where I was running away from doing this; but I ended up asking myself what the point of living through something is if I don’t share it with people? NASHVILLE, TENN. – With “an effortlessly smoky quality” (Billboard) hazing across three-and-a-half minutes of vitriolic kiss off, Lauren Watkins returns today with new song “Mama, I Made It” just in time to debut at her hometown’s largest play, Nashville’s Nissan Stadium, opening shows for Morgan Wallen this weekend.

Driving in the same sonic lane as Kerosene-era Miranda Lambert, the upbeat toe-tapper written by Watkins, Rocky Block, and Lauren Hungate and produced by diamond-certified studio ace Joey Moi, finds Watkins in the eye of the storm, heartbroken and breaking things over a relationship gone off the rails. Pissed off and vengeful, she turns her co-penned phrases on a dime with fire and a wink, bragging: This train’s a wreck / it’s such a mess / and mama, I made it.

“I’ve been dying for y’all to hear this one,” Watkins shared on socials last night. “Hope ya love it.”

Previewing her anticipated full-length debut due out this summer, Watkins’ first taste of new music bolsters her developing reputation for “sure-footed lyric sense, a smoky vocal, and deft picking” (MusicRow).

NASHVILLE, TENN. – Fresh off her aptly-named trio of hometown shows, The Heartbreak Supper Club, where exceeding-capacity crowds forced a venue change, Big Loud Records / Songs & Daughters Lauren Watkins releases her second EP of the year today, six-song sequel Introducing: The Heartbreak. 

Written alongside decorated experts like The Warren Brothers, Nicolle Galyon, Jessie Jo Dillon, Rodney Clawson, David Garcia, and more, Watkins completes her musical introduction with “Jealous of Jane,” and “Fly On The Wall” featuring labelmate and Texas Country Music Awards Male Artist of the Year Jake Worthington. Both songs join previous releases “Fine County Line,” “Stuck In My Ways,” “The Table,” and “Cowboys on Music Row” with fellow country riser Carter Faith.

“An EP would not be complete without a couple of jealousy songs, so ‘Jealous of Jane’ and ‘Fly On The Wall’ are kind of the cherry on top for me, I’m so happy that they’re out finally,” Watkins says.

“This project is me just going one step further in introducing myself to the world,” she continues. “I feel like these songs are a perfect taste of the type of songs that I love; love to listen to and love to write. I wrote all of them with people that I love, that I’ve looked up to for a while and have learned so much from, so to have them on this project is amazing, not to mention the artist collaborations that I got to do with Carter and Jake. I’m just really excited and happy to put this music out there and see where it takes us.”
